The 21 km Classic race combines endurance with a precise and efficient skiing rhythm. This varied middle-distance course challenges both technique and fitness, offering an intense cross-country skiing experience in the traditional classic style.
Technique and Race Experience
The classic diagonal stride and a steady rhythm define this race. The distance offers an intense and rewarding experience for both newcomers and experienced cross-country skiers.
Registration
Registration for the 21 km Classic race is open. Online registration will remain available until and including 03 February 2027.
Late registration will be possible on 05 and 06 February 2027 at the Expo in the Ammergauer Haus, subject to availability of starting places.

Start
The 21 km Classic race starts at the start area in Ettal. The race starts at 11:00.
Only participants wearing an official race bib are permitted to enter the start area.
Any clothing left behind in the start area will be collected.

Finish
The finish is located at the Oberammergau Sports Centre.

Clothing Bag, Transport & Showers
Clothing bags will be transported free of charge from the start to the finish after the race has begun and can be collected there.
Clothing bags can be purchased on site or in the online shop. Please hand in your clothing bag in the start area.
Showers are available free of charge in the finish area.
Awards & Award Ceremony
Awards will be presented to the top three women and men in the overall classification. Age-group winners will receive their prizes by post.
Every participant will receive a finisher medal.
The award ceremony will take place at approximately 11:30 at the Oberammergau Sports Centre in the finish area.

PARKPLÄTZE & SHUTTLEBUS
A free shuttle bus service from Oberammergau to Ettal will be provided. Buses start operating at 06:30. The final bus departs from Oberammergau at 10:30.
By Car
From Munich: Take the A95 motorway to its end and continue towards Oberau. In Oberau, turn right towards Augsburg. After crossing the Ettaler Berg mountain pass, you will reach Ettal – the southern gateway to the Ammergau Alps Nature Park.
From the A7: Travel via Seeg, Roßhaupten and Lechbruck to Steingaden. From there, continue towards Garmisch-Partenkirchen on the B23 to Bad Bayersoien in the northern part of the Ammergau Alps Nature Park.
From Füssen: Travel via Steingaden and then continue towards Garmisch-Partenkirchen on the B23 to Bad Bayersoien in the northern part of the Nature Park.
From Innsbruck: Travel towards Garmisch-Partenkirchen and then follow the signs for the A95 / Munich. In Oberau, turn left towards Augsburg. After crossing the Ettaler Berg mountain pass, you will reach Ettal – the southern gateway to the Ammergau Alps Nature Park.
By Bus / Train
The Ammergau Alps are easily accessible by train from Munich. In Murnau, change to the regional Ammertalbahn train. During the scenic journey with magnificent views of the Alps, the train serves Bad Kohlgrub, Saulgrub, Altenau, Unterammergau and Oberammergau.
From Innsbruck, take the train via Garmisch-Partenkirchen to Oberau. From there, change to a regional bus towards Füssen.
Guests staying with participating accommodation providers receive an electronic guest card that includes free use of all regional buses throughout the Ammergau Alps. This allows you to travel conveniently around the region without having to worry about parking.

- Munich Airport (Franz Josef Strauss / MUC), approx. 130 km away, with the best transport connections
- Memmingen Airport (Allgäu Airport Memmingen / FMM), approx. 80 km away

Entry Fees
A 20% discount is granted for combined registrations, for example when entering the 21 km race on Saturday together with the 42 km race on Sunday.
