Popular-race tradition meets top-level national sport: the König Ludwig Lauf hosts the German Ski Marathon Championships over 42 km in classic technique.
42 km Classic Technique
Sunday, 7 February 2027 · Ammergau Alps Nature Park
The German Championships are integrated into the 42 km classic race. The course follows the royal cross-country trails between Ettal and Oberammergau, combining a demanding ski marathon with the atmosphere of one of Germany’s most traditional Nordic events.
Championship classification
The advertised championship categories are ranked under the regulations applicable for 2027. Eligibility, licence or race-pass requirements and age groups will be confirmed in the official race notice.
One race, two experiences
German Championship competitors are also included in the regular 42 km König Ludwig Lauf results. Ambitious recreational athletes, experienced ski-marathon racers and Germany’s leading competitors therefore share the same course and event atmosphere.
“Within the limit” award
In addition to the championship medals, the “within the limit” award recognises strong performances throughout the field. The final time threshold and award rules will be confirmed in the 2027 race notice.
Course and organisation
The race is held exclusively in classic technique over 42 km. Updated information on start groups, bib collection, course routing and possible weather-related changes will be published ahead of the event. The GPX file can be downloaded directly from the race facts below.
