König Ludwig Lauf team
After the declaration of the emergency disaster in Bavaria (until at least 05.01.2021) based on the Bavarian Infection Protection Measures Ordinance - 10th BayIfSMV, the König Ludwig Lauf 2021 cannot be held in the Ammergau Alps even after intensive planning. A responsible implementation that respects the health of each attendent cannot be guaranteed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, despite all efforts.
The OC emphasizes that the health of all participants, all volunteers and all partners is the top priority. Popular sports events should promote health and not to be a health risk for the attendees.
The requirements of the authorities and the government as well as the dynamic infection situation do not allow a event like the König Ludwig Lauf with up to 4000 participants.
After analysis of the already registrated participants (origin), ist it not possible to a huge number of participants can take part in the event without difficult travel conditions and quarantine.
The event was with the cooperation of the responsible authorities, was deemed not feasible. "Germany's largest cross-country skiing event" is not just a crosscountry event, but also the side venues such as the exhibition, catering, doctors' symposium and shuttle transport are important components of the event and economically indispensable for the implementation.
The forecast of the infection situation is impossible until the first weekend in February 2021. Based on this the organizers have decided to cancel. For the König Ludwig Lauf, after the cancellation due to weather conditions in 2020, this is another hard blow with enormous financial damage for the non profit club.
On the website of the organizer (www.koenig-ludwig-lauf.com) a form will be made available for the participants from January 2nd, 2021, with which a partial reimbursement of the entry fees according to the event conditions can be initiated by March 1st. The registered participants will be informed separately via email in the next few weeks.
The organizers would be grateful if some participants would decide to donate the entry fee. So the non-profit club can use the donation for the future implementation of the König Ludwig Lauf.
The OC of the König Ludwig Lauf asks for your understanding for this hard decision and remains highly motivated for the event in 2022.
